I think that Gandhi is saying that revenge is never the answer. Just because someone has done wrong to you, doing something wrong to them won't make anything better. So in the case of the time period we are studying, the people that are being opressed and forced out may not think its fair, but if they were to regain power and begin to opress those who opressed them it wouldn't be a victory before it would be a loss. Sometimes you have to step up and realize somethings wrong and stop it before everyone ends up the victoms of their own world.
I really like this quote because it shows that revenge is just as bad as the initial action that was done. I can relate this to every day life.
